Just went on a bit of a blast down to the coast for a meeting last weekend..a mere 1300 klms (900miles) and as its the first real trip I have done with the beastie( although I do go to the big smoke once a month 500klms/300 miles round trip) I thought it might be a good opportunity to check the fuel consumption figures.
I have to admit that it is a bit more thirsty than my Commodore (Opal) that returned 30 MPG (10 litres per 100 klms)
Figures were:
Trip down (tail wind, aircon on) 19.2 mpg
Around town (no aircon, no wind) 17.9 mpg
Trip Home (head wind, no aircon, no centre muffler) 17.4 mpg
Any other V8 guys got figures that I can relate to?
As for the muffler, I think the trek along the beach (pics to follow) might have had a hand in breaking out the pipe out of the front of the box; it got a bit rough in a couple of spots.
I had a straight through smaller muffler welded in between the existing flanges and it isnt as quiet as it was before, but now has a great little throaty sound under acceleration.
Missus says I am just an 18 year old kid inside...lol. (she might be right)
