Hello
Can somebody point me to where I can get inf. about the differences in a ZF discov8 petrol g/box and a 300tdi auto box
Different speeds for gearchange, etc

As far as I am aware the key difference was the size of the torque converter but it's more difficult than that as you need more than just the torque converter you need the flex plate and bell housing too, the volume and flow of the oil pump will define your changes unless you are using an ECU controlled gearbox of course.

What are you trying to do exactly?

apart from bell housing the difference is valve block, if you change both you have either box, petrol and diesel need different valve blocks to suit gear change, you can run either but its crap

300tdi and an Auto..

I imagine that would be slower than a milkfloat full of concrete..
:confused::D

Don't know what the OP's vehicle is but someone I know has a Defender running a 300ti/auto & it goes quite well, although not the same as a V8/auto obviously.
