So this how my day started.
I lock my discovery every time with the key dont have a fob. This morning I unlock my disco with key and the alarm goes off ,flashing lights and wont start.
So after disconnecting alarm I give the starter solenoid some a live feed and she fires up.
Now after getting the car to my work shop i read a thread about this devil of a spider ecu and start removing the dash . to find out there no devil spider ecu. I even remove the center console just in case its there but cant find it.

At this time so angry cant find ecu and still constant flashing i have another little search on the net and see a topic about cleaning earths.
I Have a little lookie and clean the earth behind the battery, and all faults cured so the moral of the story is CLEAN ALL EARTHS BEFORE PULLING DASH APART.

The only thing thats confusing me is where is the immobiliser ECU its a M reg v8 auto 300 shape
and will it have a single button fob ??

I think the spider is on models with the 2 button fob, introduced sometime in 1996, to check for the spider all you have to do is take out the stereo and you can see it slightly in and to the left (on mine), and roughly the size of a pack of cards. You can then if you so wish disconnect the spider plug and put in a spider bypass unit (part number AMR 4956) you can do all this without removing the dash in about 10 minutes, to remove the spider unit to re solder the dry joints etc its a dash out jobbie which takes much longer.

Theres a pic of it on here: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/immobiliser-bypass-question-111633.html
