My 88 came with a diesel engine but V5 says petrol so I want to update it.
I know with 'Historic vehicles' DVLA do not need supporting evidence but do I need to give date ?
In the change of details section 'Date of Change' boxes are next to new weight and New Colour.
Not directly in line with Engine number ?

No, apparently not. It is same size and original LandRover engine.
Can you check with Land Rover when that engine number was fitted to a vehicle originally, then if you have it's reg no, can you see what happened to it, if it was scrapped etc ?

Not sure that would help me, but LandRover records can be a bit hit n miss.
You can pay for some records but it may not contain the info' you want ?
Ah, think I just realised what you mean.
I think form is asking when change was made, not date of engine ?

But it may help you if you do not know this, or ask previous owner

Previous owner aquired it as a Diesel. it's last MoT prior to me buying was 2005 where it is listed as diesel.

Can't you just pick a date?
Or try and find out the history and previous owners, then try to contact them?
Or try speaking to the DVLA and see what they say.

When I changed the engine number in the P38. I don’t remember putting a date i did get a letter from my garage guy to say this was the engine that was in the car stating numbers and registration.

I would leave it blank but send a cover letter stating the mot evidence about it being done pre 2005 and send a copy of the mot. Also state it was done before your ownership.

Just to close. I took some advice from the Series 2 Club, which was similar to what marjon suggested.
I returned V5 with a short letter giving 'new' engine number and fuel type, stating that it is Historic and nothing else changed.
New V5 arrived today. Actually 2 arrived !
One Petrol, one Diesel. o_O

Will one be exempt from 'air pollution' charges in the City and one not ? :D:banana:

I been on to Gov.UK and the Diesel is the latest issue.
I did try check MoT status but it not recorded ?

I expected it to come back as exempt or something, but apparently as the 'Not Recorded' is on a Green background then that is ok ?

Presume so as I have checked our number plate and previuos vehicle and it does the same.
Don't forget you still have to tax it although it is free.

Did this ever get sorted? I’m looking at the same issue currently with an 88, came with a diesel but v5 says petrol? What did you do?
