Permanent TRO - Greenhills, Teesdale (Urgent)

Durham County Council placed a temporary TRO on this road in 2008 and are now seeking to make a permanent TRO on this road with responses to be made by 20th December 2009.
They have given very little notice of this proposal, no details of why or who has requested the closure or any details of any alternative measures taken as set out in government advice.

For map/details follow this link TrailWise - The National Catalogue of Rights of Way

LARA have written requesting further information however due to the limited timescale this is not likely to be forthcoming before the closing date.

Any comments or objections should be addressed to

Dear All

Since the original consultation exercise in December I have been involved in numerous discussions with Durham County Councillors, the County Councils Legal Dept,LARA and the North Trail Riders Association and can update you as follows.

Durham County Council intend to;

1. Place an order with our contractor to remove the existing prohibition of driving signage from the site.

2. Not proceed any further with the proposed prohibition of motor vehicles order.

3. Inspect / monitor the site for a period of 12 months in an attempt to determine the extent / origin of any damage caused.

4. Write to the local landowners to ask that they remove any animal feeders from the line of the unmade road.

5. Depending on the results of the inspections, we may then look to progress a voluntary agreement at the site.

I hope you find the above acceptable, however if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards

Thanks to any that wrote in? We can make a difference when we can be bothered

Good result, nice one.

Just shows we have some power when we react in enough numbers .. and probably also when we work with the TRF (bikers) etc against the common enemy ... ;)
