I changed the engine in my 99 TD for an engine I got from a 325TDS.

This has been biting me all the way!

Finally got the engine in and plumbed in etc. Putting the manifold on I find the head configuration is different so I have installed the aluminium manifold not the plastic one.

Various other brackets etc change so the loom fits properly etc.

Put in the oil and wate.

Connected a nice fresh battery and then the problems!

Turn on the ignition you can hear the glow plug relay clicking in and out at the rate of once a second. On top of this the inj pump (stop solenoid) ticks in sequence.

Attached the Synch mate and the blue light falshes again in sequence and therefore doesn't synch.

Turn the ignition key the starter solenoid clicks in and out like a flat battery (but it isnt) and then the alarm goes off in unison with lights flashing.

I've checked the battery, The earths, the live connector, the engine to body earth etc. However, the clicking happens even when the pump electrics are disconnected (Multi pin plug and the one underneath). This then clicks in the fusebox, Glow plug relay and the unit under the passenger seat (Front).

Reconnect the wires and the clicking then includes the fuel cut off solenoid on the pump.

It's as though a circuit is making and breaking all the time when you turn the ignition on. Maybe a blown fuse somewhere (cant see one) or a relay?

The sync mate booklet mentions nothing of a flashing blue light so I stumped !

I'm sure it is something, hopefully, simple but I'm unable to progress any further.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Is it a sign the BECM has gone? It was fine prior to it going to the garage and them telling me the engine had no compression on 3 cylinders. Hence why I've changed the engine (It has been sat 3 months waiting) .

Thanks in advance.

Ray

PS. I'm so hacked off I'm thinking of putting it for Scrap!
