Does such a thing exist for the FL1?

I'm not talking about lifting blocks. I'm talking about better dampers and springs. Most cars can benefit on road with improved items. Loads of choice for Defenders and Disco's. But those same places only seem to sell OEM or pattern part shocks for an FL1?

Does nobody offer any sort of upgrades in this department?

Thinking left field.... I know the Ford WRC rally team used to run some V6 Freelanders as recce cars back in the day. Colin McRae even kept one I think.... assume they must have used something above and beyond stock dampers and springs.

For uprated suspension, ie sportier handling, there is the Freelander Sport kit, -40mm springs, stiffer dampers etc. Perhaps someone else slightly more anoraky than me might be able to comment if the commercial/van had stiffer springs & dampers? My initial feeling is that yes, they do, our ex-van-hippo still feels firm compared to others I've driven. For a while Koni also made their FSD, Frequency Selective Damper, upgrade kit for the hippo, although I looked for it a year or so ago and couldn't find it, in fact it almost looks like they've ditched the entire freelander model range, maybe you'll find something else, but do let me know if you do, I won't be embarassed if your google-fu is stronger than mine, it'd just be handy to know where I could get my hands on those gucci shocks... There was also a thread on here about someone who'd replaced their dampers with monroe adventure shocks and found it a bit stiff for their liking: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/suspension-question.378645/ Old-Man-Emu also used to do longer springs and dampers IIRCthose wer not only longer travelling but also higherloading based on the premise of a loaded overlander with under armour + camping kit + provisions etc needing higher spring rates and suitable dampers.

Least exotic option is simply replace the dampers will make for a car that feels more planted, new shocks are better than old shocks.
 
I replaced the springs on the struts with a set of Dobinsons, and Australian brand. See here. Those in combination with my mud tyres, Maxxis Bravo 753 MT 217-75-15, do provide with a bit more clearance.

Thanks to the above. Just surprised there isn't more choice. I believe people even comp/hill rally the Freelander. Are they really using stock dampers and springs?

I'm not entirely sure what I'm after, not stiffer and not lifted. Just better damping really.
