Anyone had this problem before. I've recently noticed that when i park uphill overnight, then it takes two or three turns to start in the morning. No issues downhill, starts first time every time (since i changed the glow plugs). It's like the diesel has run back to the tank and it takes a while to pump through!!

It's had the pump done at some stage because ive noticed the cut out under the rear seat. When you say check it, what do you mean? It's obviously working because it runs without a problem but should there be some sort of non return valve which may have failed.

Fairly sure mine has a non return valve before the fuel filter. But dont quote me on it.

The intank pump whilst the vehicle is running can be hidden by the FIP, in tank pump is quite often a cause for crap starting as it isnt lifting the fuel. The fact your experiencing fuel lift issues would say to me that its either worn or dying..

The pump only runs on start when the glow plug light is alight and the fip pump takes over when the engine is running remove the fuel filter when cold and get some one to switch on the ignition and check how much fuel is pumped through
