Some of you may remember that I put 17" wheels on my P38 which were wrong as they should be either 16" or 18". Anyway did a Google search for new tyres and found a link to Gumtree to a guy who was selling 18" wheels with almost new tyres for £180. That can't be right I thought, so phoned him. Yeah, that was right as he was fitting 20" to his P38 and the tyres are General Altimax HP's and about 5 weeks old, so the deal was done. Happy bunny :)

Just wondering, the 18" wheels have the larger wheel nuts. Will I still need to fit the spacers from the 17" wheels that had the smaller wheel nuts?

Hi, could you tell me why you should not fit 17 inch rims to a p38? I have 17 inch rims on mine and seem to be ok. Thanks in advance.

Hello Datatek,
sorry to sound stupid but what do you mean that they are not homolgated for the car and may be illegal, i do not understand what that means. i was told by PO that the alloys came of a Disco.
Thanks in advance.

The P38 was designed to have either 16" or 18" rims which would mean they are homoglated. However, they were not designed to run on 17" rims which means they are not homoglated

I wouldnt worry too much about them not being homoligated for the p38 ,as long as they are weight rated and around the same rolling circumference as the originals you will be fine,

until something goes wrong , most prob void your ins aswell

Morning all,
Thanks for the advice, think I need to look for some 18s then. Does the same apply to people who put 20s and 22s on their p38s.

It might apply to them but they don't care because they're making so much money from their drug dealing.
:D

a p38 never came out the factory with anything bigger than 18s so beware as ins companys will not pay out on any loophole unless you have informed & agreed prior, ive run 20s & 22s years ago on 38s but tbh id stick with factory if i was you .im not the law & dont make it but safety is 100% my priority.also i would only fit genuine lr wheels as ive seen all the aftermarket unloadrated junk only good for the scrap man imo .my honest opp is fit genuine 16s or 18s no spriggots & correct nuts then you will be safe & trouble free;)
