Hi Folks,

I wanted to fit a satnav/dashcam thingy near the top/centre of the screen. I don't want wires visible going down to the cigar lighter - so I thought about tucking the 12v supply in the top. There is an unused trim panel as my car is a base model:

When this is popped off there is a void I could put a 12v cig socket - I just need a 12v supply and Earth.

I thought of using the courtesy light supply - but I noticed there is an unused multiple with yellow, yellow/red etc wires not doing anything.

I didn't have my DVM with me. Does any one know what the plug is for and if it has a switched positive feed?

Thanks
Mark

Don't use the courtesy light as it's switched through the BCU. That plug is possibly for the compass / self-dipping mirror or maybe even the electric sunroof. Easiest way to find out is with a multimeter.

Actually the courtesy light supply is permannent from fuse F20, unproper for your purpose, the BCU works with the lights on the earth path, that unused plug seems the one for ACE upper accelerometer, no feed on it but as i presume you dont have ACE you can make a bridge in the unused ACE ECU connector as to bring the missing ECU's ignition feed up there, it implies to connect the wires from cavities 11(green/orange) with 18(yellow/red) from C0647(see RAVE -Electrical library - connector views) then you'll have the ignition feed on the yellow/red wire at that upper connector, if you dont have RAVE download this https://www.dropbox.com/s/v0zqixf323c0igu/Discovery 2 MY99 to MY03 - Electrical Library (LRL0529ENG 3rd Ed).pdf?dl=0 and scroll to C0647 then mae a bridge with a piece od solid wire in the plug as to be good contact or simply cut the wires and join them together

Thanks for that Sierrafery. I will have a play with it at the weekend. The electrical library link is also much appreciated. I will study that.

Cheers
