First post in this forum, although i’ve been lurking around for quite some time.

Recently bought a 1984 Series III, 2.25 petrol, to do a full restoration on.

Although i live in (and write this from) the UK, the car is in Greece (where i’m originally from) and i fly back for long weekends once every couple of months to work on it - as you can imagine it’s a slow process…

I am currently in the process of stripping down the car. I was looking through photos of the engine bay that i took the previous time i was working on the car, and i cannot seem to identify the component in the attached picture.

The previous owner had installed hydraulic steering from a P38, so the car has been worked on before. I am thus Unsure if the thing in the picture is even and original factory component.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

Period accessory?
Where do the rubber and the thin copper line go to? At a guess I'd suggest brake booster?

So digging a bit deeper in my photo library - i can tell that there is a hose connected from the component to the intake manifold right next to the carb. Also there is a thin pipe coming out of it in the first picture that looks like a brake line, but the whole thing is on the other side of the car from where the pedals are? (Can brake boosters / servos be remote and away from the actuating pedal?)

Yes, they can.

The pipe to the manifold says it is a booster then. This could be for the brakes or the clutch depending on where that copper pipe goes.
