Hi.
I am in need of a replacement MUC6979 door latch mechanism, RH for my 1987 110.
I know these are hard to come by, but perhaps someone has one somewhere?

Alternatively, has anyone taken them apart to fix them?

Cheers,
Jim

What’s wrong with it?
Ive recently had to adjust the length of the interior mechanism that opens the lock, and now I'm at the full extent of that adjustment. Its just started playing up again (not quite triggering the latch to open).

I think that its probably just worn inside, although it could be something else.
The door always opens OK using the exterior handle, so could just be more adjustment needed.

I was going to dismantle and inspect it, but as its rivetted together, that's not a simple task.

and now I'm at the full extent of that adjustment
Could you not just increase the adjustment either by adding additional threads down the rod or making a longer rod if it needs to go the other way? From what you have said the latch mechanism works as it should

I re drilled some holes to get a bit more life out of the latch system. There always seemed a lot of play in the at flat bar
Never taken 1 apart, but would be easy to nut & bolt it back together

Still have 2 latches on the early windup doors in the shed but as you say they are hard to find.

The handle & bar is also off a lot of the BL motors. (Sherpa, maxi Austin)

Also may be off some MG

Not found anything that looks like the mech.. yet.

The rod is actually flat bar with some slots in it - I could indeed elongate the slots to add some more adjustment.
I might look at this again, cheers

I'll investigate giving more movement by adjusting the flat bar - I have a mill, so elongating the slots wont be an issue.
I think in the long run the internal wear will have to be addressed - be an interesting project I think. I was kind of hoping someone would pop up and say 'Oh yeah, thats an easy job - jus do this...' :)
Maybe if I do attack it I'll take a load of pictures and do a write up.

Wonder if there is a service kit for the internals ?
(Not found any more info yet)
