Hi Guys,

I m looking to replace the UJ's on my Series II 109 and I don't own a vice, can anyone see any problems with using a c clamp?
 
I don't think you'll get enough enough oomph out of a clamp to press them out or enough surface area to stabilize everything. But I could be wrong. It won't be the first time.:D
 
Hammer and punch to remove, but a decent C clamp should put them back in fairly easily. Once they're half in and nothing's going to drop out you can tap them in the final bit.
 
i did mine whilst under the car and didnt even bother to remove the prop from the other end. Hammer and socket as per some of the other guys.

Just take your time and dont drop the needle rollers! (splurge some extra grease in there is the trick)
 
Thanks guys, I ll give them a go and let you know how I get on, although after trying her out on biodiesel she's now smoking like a b*stard so perhaps I should look at that first
 
have replaced them under the car with only that end of the prop off gclamp hammer and drift but a good set of circlip plyers is a must if the prop is loose
 
c clamp should work if you can get enough force on, but might be a pain to stabalise, i never like doing them with a hammer, knocking them out, yes. but putting them back in always a vice and sockets
 
If you've never done them before fit the cups one at a time so the rollers can't fall out, Put the spider in the yoke poke it through and fit a cup on the journal and then press or tap the cup in way past the circlip groove so you can fit the cup to the opposite side and then fit the circlip to the first side and press/tap the whole lot back to the circlip, them repeat for the other two.
