I've used the avon rangemasters for years and have allways been happy with them on road and off - i was told a while back that they were being doscontinued so i would be interested to know where you have seen them avliable from

On my 110, I had the rangemasters too they were great on road and until they lost some serious tread depth they were good enough off-road.

Now I've got a set of michelin XZLs and they're a bit noisier on-road and considerably better in the rough. They're a tyre of choice for the military and expeditions too and you can get them £100 a pop on wolf rims from Paddocks.

I always think if you just put road tyres on a defender it's a waste of potential. Fuel consumption isn't that better, road noise reduction's not that noticable as everything else makes a noise - plus if you DID want / need to go off road pleasure / emergency / winter you're at a disadvantage and you'd as well be in a Honda CRV.

"which of these size of tyres will fit a 110 landy? which is best for 100% road?"

I agree with muddy above - I've never quite understood the point of a 100% road Landrover except to use the maximum fuel to least effect for whatever reason (maybe to make the summers warmer?) - if it's for space then a Transit van might be better!... The best equipped brand spanking Defender I ever see turns up at my kids school every day - full road tyres, aircon, fully tinted glass, electrical everything, fitted T.V's, immaculate paint job (metalic silver) etc etc - the thing doesnt even leak oil! :)... but an obscene waste of fuel for the school run (it's all it's used for - yes, really! ) of under 1 mile! .

I usualy contrive to park my 20 year old mud covered jobby with "geet nobbly" tyres next to it just to remind them what the things are made for!
