It depends on what you will be using your landy for, just road use or a little bit of soft offroading or some more extreme how the xxxx do I get out of this offroading.
Like he says^^^^^^^^. What do you use the landrover for?
If you use it mostly for off road, you want tall tyres, with lots of tread, there will be a noise and handling penalty.
If it is mostly on road and towing, ATs are going to be more suitable.
If you do a lot of mileage, you may want to go for a premium tyre, if the vehicle is only doing a few hundred miles a year, get budget, the tyres will perish before they wear out.
For mainly road use and the odd bit of green laning I find my General Grabber AT2 tyres a good all round tyre, not noisy on the road and as mentioned above you will not wear the tread out, I replaced my original set with 50% tread on them after around 40k miles but 13.5 years use because they where starting to perish a little.
Thank you for your input. She will be mostly used on the road and down lanes here in the forest-the most off roaring will probably be skirting the animals in the road!
Avon Rangemasters were fitted as standard as a general purpose tyre. I had them on my old 90 and did everything I asked them to. Fairly quiet on the road and reasonable off it- I took mine on a pay-and-play and went everywhere except the really boggy bits. You can reduce the pressure to get a bit more traction on softer ground.
