Hi guys my freelander 1 facelift (17" hse wheels) is due new tyres. Currently got 4 odd make, odd tread depth tyres on thanks to previous retards! I was wondering what your recommendations were? I'm thinking Pirelli p zero or scorpions? I don't use it offroad, however there may be the odd occasion I need a bit more grip in wet muddy fields as I use it to go motocross.

I'd go with Scorpions, the P Zero's will be pointless in the winter, as regardless of 4wd, car will still have pathetic traction as they're summer tyres

Are the scorpions good all year round? And for a wet muddy field? It doesn't have to be Pirelli, it's just that's the only tyre manufacturer I have experience with

Just taken Scorpion STR's (16's) off my car, were fantastic last winter, and i've taken them through a fair bit of boggy mud and they've pulled through fine, they're pretty good on normal roads too. Only got rid of them as i've fitted AT's

Quite hard wearing too, did 6000 miles on my new set of rears since December and they've only worn 1.5mm

That sounds good. I'm just trying to do search on the different sizes to see if I should stick with the same or if another size will be better

Do what i did, buy the H&R spacer kit and fit huge tyres :D i went with Cooper AT3's in 225/75/16

:nopics::rulez:
(and before anybody gets shirty , mines a k series on insa rangers. :) )

Look on my project thread, or the what have you done today thread...or i might just post a pic on here :D

Got 220mm clearance at lowest point on front, 240mm on lowest point at rear, and 310-370 mm front to rear on sills, just from the tyres, nothing else been done!

They do look cool as #### :) and there fine for mainly driving on the road? I'd be forced to go offroad with those tyres! I was thinking spacers aswell just for the looks? Are they 16 or 17 inch wheels?

SES88 where did you get the spacers? Where's best for the tyres? I see you got 225/75/16, I've got 17's so would I need 225/65/17?

what spacers do you have fitted

I've got the H&R/Bearmach kit fitted, BA3409, paid £240 inc vat from 4MuddyFeet, they're local to me, so if a few people wanted sets i could speak to them and see if i could arrange a group buy with them to get some money off!

You'd never get 225/65/17 to fit, as they'd be the same size tyre as mine, but with an extra inch in the middle on the wheel, so they wouldnt even fit in the arches!

You could go to something like 235/65/17 or 225/70/17, but the 225's might not go on either, as i only have 2mm clearance at the back on full lock, and the 225's are about 6mm bigger in diameter so they may not be an option. Most people with AT's go to 16's or 15 inch steel's for better tyre choice, they're better off road with smaller wheels too.

My AT3's have been alright so far, they're noisier than normal tyres above 45-50mph, but you'd expect that, they have 15mm of tread depth new, done about 100 miles overall in them, road holding etc is fine, nothing wrong with them!

Not in a position to buy anything at the moment unfortunately. What about tyres?

Oh and i bought them from Craddocks, but found somewhere selling them for a fiver a tyre cheaper, 4x4tyres.co.uk/com or something

Those tyres wont fit without spacers though!
