Hi
just starting a rebuild and my intention is to put bigger wheels or tyres on the finished article , only problem is you can write what i know about tyre sizes etc in big letters on a postage stamp
the current ones are 205r16, what would i be able to do using the existing rims, would a standard 90 be able to cope with 18 inch rims

what are you rebuilding ? and what are you intending when using ? that will affect what rim diameter, width and tyre combination you require (want).

its a 1997 defender 90 its mainly used as a shooting fishing bus so offroad usually means farms tracks but a fair bit of road work as well

I would suggest that 255/85r16 will do the trick , esp farm tracks where what you need is ground clearance , this will also gear up a bit for road cruise.
MT or AT , personally I favour BFG MT , but Cooper and a few others eg Kumho etc are equally popular HTSH
