Hi guys and girls I was just woundering I have 225/50/r17 tyres at the moment I was thinking could I fit 225/65/r17 with out modding the car.

mate try a search loads of questions on tyres. Its bad enough asking that question for any landy but for the gaylander you are going to get slated.

Hi,

225/50 17 is an unusual size to fit on a Freelander - they are too small diameter.

More common is 225/55 17 - the standard 17" size, which is what it probably left the factory with.

If you fit 225/65 17 they will be too big diameter and may well foul the bottom spring cup on the front suspension. Not advisable! :(

I'm running 235/55 17s which are the biggest that can be safely fitted without spacers. (I have approx 7mm of clearance to allow for tyre-flexing on hard cornering.

Singvogel

Hy guys.

Tyres 225 65 17 fitt freelander1 no problems.just done it on my one. All terrain tyres by Toyo .car sits a bit higher by 22.5mm

I fitted this size to my Freelander in April. I think mine raises the car even higher as the tread is quite deep on the General Grabber AT.

I don't have any issues, but that isn't surprising with a 40mm lift and 30mm spacers.
