Fit Yokohama Geolander AT 015 tyres, which are brilliant in all condition except thick claggy mud.
Having said that, a 1.8 Freelander isn't a great tow vehicle, so will struggle with anything much more than a large dinghy or small RIB.
I once tried to tow a 1800kg trailer with my 50th anniversary 1.8, and it really struggled on hills, some required dropping down to 2nd gear, and running the engine at 4000 + RPM, just to maintain speed.
Pulling away from wasn't much fun either, as it requires careful use of the clutch.

That's not an insignificant weight to pull, however, I'm sure lots of people tow that kind of rig with Golfs and the like, so a K Series Freelander will shift it - and recover it off the ramp much better to. An L Series or TD4 would probably have been more ideal, but the K should be OK - give it a go.
My boat's about 3' shorter and with a much smaller engine. The tent we carry weighs about 10% of your boat though
Probably another 10% in other camping gear to. The L Series hardly knows its there.Plus of course, first rule of the forum, the boat don't exist unless there's a pic!
Did I say Golfs tow that sort of rig? Over here you can't be seen dead on the ramp with anything less than a 3L Hilux - or you're a Pomm
