Once upon a time ........ when I was young, stupid, and poor ...... I drove a 'Tour of Europe' - from Scotland all the way to the South of France and then Italy on 'knobblies' 
in the summer!
Terrible racket - but not so noisy on the way back as they were slowly converting themselves to slicks.
Note - I described it as a time when I was 'young, stupid, and poor' - only one of those adjectives need to be changed to bring the description up to date.

Just put two on my gaylander today.. 3 days before the deadline here in Sweden, woulda liked studded, but not legal in UK, and if you think Hankooks are noisy... listen to the studded!

The tyres on my Freelander are those Hankook 195/80/15 , just like Rhodie said were 'noisy as fook'.
I bought my Freelander 2 months ago, and was worried about the noise. Had bearings/diff checked out, and they're fine. Could it really just be tyre noise? It kicks in about 30mph, like a humming, rumbling etc.. Does my bleeding head in though

No, difficult to explain, just a kind of "roady" noise...
Rumbly humming usually is tyre related though, mine do that if they need some air.
