Hi,i'm thinking of puting a set of MT tyres 80/20 on my freelander ,would these wear down fast on road surface if so would i be better on a set of AT 50/50.
one other thing my tyre size, 215/65 R16 is their any way i could fit a tyre with a higher wall,if this is possible what size tyres should i be looking at

Unless you are really going for serious mud most of the time, I'd definitely go for AT's.

MT's will wear down quickly on a normal road surface, they also offer rather much less grip. On a "real" LR :D AT's will last in excess of 50k, and a decent set will have plenty of grip.

You can fit bigger tyres, but your speedo will mis-read and if they are too big it might confuse the ABS/Traction control. Probably stick with the same size if I were you.

General wisdom is BFG's are by far the best off-road tyres if you can afford them. I'm buying a set of General Grabber AT2's for my P38, which are quite a bit cheaper and have been getting good reviews.
