I've 1uzfe stuffed in mine on an autoyeah I think your right on the auto but not sure I want an auto 90
thanks going to get it up and running in the tvr to start with its been left outside with no roof and the ecu is toast thanks to the water which mixed with tvr's brilliant electrics is causing some head aches at the moment it does run but not very well yetAccording to my TVR books the engine spec is bhp: 280 @ 5500rpm, Max torque: 305lbs/ft @ 4000rpm, so assuming u are looking at "plug & play" just look for a LR that matches that spec and has a manual gearbox, simples... and the best of luck.
200+ I like your modestya r380 gearbox is rated to approx 280lbft of torque (r380 is named because it can cope with 380nm of torque). If you do fry it, then it will be 3rd gear synchro which goes under heavy acceleration and load. How often will you be nailing it... Also those specs are for the first generation boxes, and if you get one from a late defender Td5 (R380 suffix L) they are stronger as they have uprated bearings and layshaft IIRC. You can also add an oil cooler and larger capacity sump to the R380 which would help.
Id consider one before going the LT85 route as its the R380 is much nicer gearbox day to day.
FYI, ive gone this route on my 4.6 Stage3 megasquirt 90. Not yet built, but should be good for 200+ bhp.
That's interesting I'm already running an r380 I may try it on that firsta r380 gearbox is rated to approx 280lbft of torque (r380 is named because it can cope with 380nm of torque).
