Hi

On my 300tdi auto when you floor it on kick down you can feel the boost up to about 3200rpm then it almost seems to go off boost for a second or so and then boosts back up and continues revving around to about 4500 where the autobox changes up. Is this surge in power normal on them or have I got perhaps a sticky wastegate?

Looking at the wastegate arm it seems to be right underneath the exhaust manifold, is it possible to move it without having to strip things off just to check and see how free it is? Not sure how easy the manifold is to drop on it.... guess I'd need to disconnect the oil line to the turbo too?

Cheers in advance

Matt.

I don't know of mine doing that....not that I've noticed, though recently I've been trying to be good and save fuel!

Don't see how it could be a sticking wastegate. Sure if it's stuck open you wont get boost, and if it's stuck shut it won't make any difference until you lift off.

Though I'm not an expert :)

It will move if you grip it tight and pull towards front of engine.I wouldn't rev it up to 4500 to often ,I think thats about red line on a 300.
