Hi guys,
Hope someone here can help me out. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a slight lag in my turbo (I think) when i was driving in low revs. The turbo would kick in and then drop for half a second and then pick up again as revs increased. I decided to take tke protection plate off to take a look at the turbo and this part just fell out when I removed the plate. It has part nr: 6G9N-6822-CF but LandRover just list it as "Other engine component". It doesn't look broken but I can't find any obvious place where it attaches to. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be much oblidged. BTW it's an 07 Freelander2 S TD4 2.2

Have a look at page 1485 of 3229, in the FL2 manual in the link in my signature. It's the breather pipe for the fixed ratio transfer box, located behind the engine. Plugs in on top and vents to natural air. The u shape bit it at the top and stands up at the rear of the engine. Other end connects to the transfer box.

To fit it you need to follow the exhaust to the rear of the engine, and the connection is below this on the transfer box. You can get to it from the hole in the wheel arch where you can see the rear of the engine. You will need long thin arms. I have a video of the rear of my engine but the connection is just out of shot. If you need a photo of where it goes I can get one if no one else has one.

Yes, initially I thought it was a fuel injector problem .... but when the breather pipe fell out the bottom that kind of nailed it.
Just wasn't sure where it attaches to, but Hippo (legend) sent me a manual with a diagram.

Thanks Hippo, that should help enormously .... I won't have time to look at until the weekend but I'll let you know how I get on.
Oh, and thanks for the manual download, that on it's own is fantastic but to pinpoint the page I need is above and beyond ......

I can't imagine a displaced PTU breather tube will be the cause of a running issue, unless it's actually preventing the turbo boost servo from functioning.

Very likely.

Seeing how easy the breather is to detach, I'm thinking I'll check mine is in place, as my PTU was replaced, by the same person that dropped a nut in the boost pipe, and didn't put oil in the replacement rear diff. :eek:
