Can I run 4.3 on 3.9 tune resistor? And what would happen if I was to try and start engine without one.

Thanks again!

It would start or it wouldn't :)

AFAIK however the tune resistor is not capacity related, it is simply to alter the fuelling for emissions control.

The airflow meter would cope with capacity changes, that's the idea (innit?)

As far as I know all the tune resistor does is select which fuel map IE CAT or NON CAT, is operational. You can switch fuel maps according to the reistance of the tune resistor fitted. Have a look at this Fuel injection

Start it without and it will run open loop ignoring the lambda inputs and rely on the other sensors to keep going, probably in some kind of limp mode

Yeah what i figured, also I don't have lambdas I think this defaults too older stlye engine mapping, which gives richer mixture, and is not more biased around emissions......

will try first start, with Efi tomorrow - will let you know how I get on......

No tune resistor I think will run a form of limp mode but like you say will run a more basic fuel mapping.

Just put a 470ohm resistor in where your tune resistor plug is. That'll tell the ecu to run a non cat tune and properly ignore the lambda inputs
