Just been reading through the treadlightly newsletter, it say they have acquired a wildlife camera that records anything that moves. They are hoping to get it set up where there is regular off-piste activity!

I say get it set up and get rid of all the twots that are ruining green laning for everyone!!!!

Sounds good to me!

anyone can film anything they want in a public place, pass the info onto the cop shop.

Better laning and less hassle for the rest of us!

Ditto .. ;)

More of them, then will be better for us that are responsible on the lanes. WMDC should put one on the lane near me stop the fly tipping, its a pain. Bazz.

i tork if you had a fixed camera pointing and recording a public place that suitable signage has to be erected - so perhaps not so hidden really ?

Not quite as simple as that. The cameras will have to be registered with a local authority and warning signs placed up if they are to be used as evidence in a Court...well it used to be that way but things could be different now.

Dunno about registering with local authority? i have cameras with warning signs

not if the cameras are there to see wildlife, but just happen to spot trespassers. that would be different. and if they are on private land and only cover the private land then surely by trespassing it tough luck.

I would like to hope court wouldnt be needed if they did film anyone. Maybe warnings from police/councils that if they were caught off-piste again their motors would be seized. Hopefully that would work!!!!

I do hope for a bit much I think!

Section 59 notice requires no more evidence than the belief that you have driven where ya shouldn't or driven in a manner likely to upset someone. So a vid of you offpiste would allow plod to serve a section 59 Notice. There is no right of appeal against this notice as you haven't been charged with an offence !!!!

And the Camera in question is probably one of these..

Stealth trail Cameras and scouting Camera, wildlife and game cameras

You can buy fake rocks and even logs that will hide a camera.

Offered GLASS, CRAG and a few others use of similar device connected to remote viewing devices a couple of years ago. Got a letter back from one of them saying they were worried about legal inmplications and never went any further...

If they are going to use the technology now then bloody good luck!
