Officially, yes you should tell the DVLA about chopping the chassis, the chassis the longest part of the vehicle and most likely you will want to chop a foot off the back end and if you do that then you need to get it tested.Im thinking of either tray backing my discovery or bob tailing it.
What laws do you have to cover doing either of these and heard they have to be dvsa checked afterwards?
Rotten in the boot. Im going to fix it either way but my thoughts was to either bob tail it or tray back it at the same time. Its just knowing what has to be done for it to be fine if needs testing
So does the cutting off of the rear chassis over hang make it require a test and Q plate the vehicle?
If thats the case, i might just repair the body and leave it how it is. If i knew someone who knew the laws and what it entailed of having to be done. Then it wouldnt be as bad

Does mine become the Q plate then as chopping the overhang off the chassis?
This would need checking IVA.any changes to chassis ie chop, changes the conformity.Does mine become the Q plate then as chopping the overhang off the chassis?
