My parents live on the algarve and when we fly down every year I alway wonder about driving throught the greener northern portugal it looks amazing from the airplane window. Might get round to it on of these days. Have driven from santandair to faro but most of that were through spain.

Do you know if I can get one off e-bay?

Yes, sure:D but in e-bay they are very expensive because of the transport. They always go by plane in executive class:)

The second half of May 2008, seven LR from UK are going to start a trip from Santandair to North of Portugal and then to the South. I am givin some some kind of suggestions about the tracks:)

Hello:) ,

The 12, 13 and 14 October a nice track in Spain, Ourense with some good friends.:D

The track was near three provinces: Ourense, Leon and Zamora.

We had dinner and slept at Hotel Ciervo in Xares.

The blue sky and the beautifull sun helped to read the horizons:cool:

... whats the weather like in the mountains that time of year???

Hello Jonny:) ,

In the mountains:confused: , may be 13ºC during the day and 5º C during the night.
If it rains there will be more humidity and a little less cold. I guess:D

Best regards

Hi there what route you planning for the France ,Spain journey?
You could need some cold weather gear for that one in january..
I live on the French /spanish border and the year before last was mighty cold on the Pyrenees, I got a feelin its gonna be a cold one this year as well.
The first year we lived here i drove down through all possible weather conditions and March last year it snowed from the other side of Paris to just before the cross back into Spain.
If you are going in Jan just make sure you are well prepared and take a good Camera cos if it does snow it looks Bloody lovely.
Any help you need on your planning?
If so just pm me .
Hope this helps
D:D

thanks tatooboo ill bare you in mind. last time i tried a similar journey i spent 2 days snowed in at burgos. luckily in a night heated volvo. which route would you reccomend? making sure to include the border towns ( jonquerra, basque region etc).

The first thing is what are you actually aiming to see how long have you got and where do you want to end up?
We live just over the French border( la jonquerra is the border town/ village )
I have driven between Girona and Wales several times now, and have done it many different ways,
i.e 1 day no stops and as many as 5 days loads of stops.
generally i have just gone with the flow on a long one and stayed off the toll roads, but for a 1 day hit its straight through the middle and dont spare the horses...
Give me some sort of indication of the sights and sounds and then im sure i can give you some more help.
BTW is that Borges you got snowed in at? Cos if it is we always use that as our half way marker and almost couldnt get outta there 3 yrs ago December
in of all things a VOLVOT5 + me trailer, not so much snow but freezing fog and ice....Brrrrrrr.
Cheers
D
