My header tank is leaking from the centre seal and I'm losing about a pint of fluid every couple of days. Heading the advice of others on this forum not to try and bodge a fix ( "why risk the entire motor for the cost of a new expansion tank ?" ) I'm gonna have to fork out for a new one.

I've seen a number on eBay which are transparent or opaque so you should be able to see the level of the fluid. Strikes me as a great idea. Any reason why one of these tanks should be less well manufactured than the normal black ones ?

I'm a little picky about parts at the moment as I'm planning a trip to Morocco and don't want to come unstuck in the Atlas mountains.

Cheers

Dave

the transparent ones are a good idea, as i am told the TDis, esp the 300's, can fail very quickly if the level drops so the clear tank allows for easier checking.

I cant see why they should be poorer quality though. Can you link to them on ebay 'cos i want one also :D

The black ones are well known for splitting the Clear ones are a later mod and are less prone to splitting.
