P.S I hope this is the correct forum, appologies if it isnt.

Hi all

Up until now I have had no issues with the gear box, then today sitting at the lights, the 'transmission fail safe mode' popped up on the dash, it drove off albeit a little slow. I stopped the car, waited about 10 mins and started her up and all seemed to work okay again? However on using the car about 2 hours later after 5 mins of driving the 'transmission fail safe mode' came back on and the car had no engagement with the gears and would not move at all ! ! Also there was a slight smell of burning ?

After leaving the car for 30mins, I managed to limp home about 1 mile, having to stop a few times and turn the car off and on as I would lose the gears.

I checked underneath by raising the suspension, couldn't see anything obvious with no leaks around the gearbox pan, the gear box was warm but not roasting.

I have read on this forum that the most common issue is that there is not 14V across the battery when the car is on, however I have checked this and I am getting a steady 14.1V

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
