Fairly sure it will but make sure the disco unit has the diff lock gubbins in it. I think it was ommitted at some point during the production run......
Ratio may also be higher on the disco transfer box but depending how you use the defender, this may be ok. Not so if you have massive tyres and do loads of extreme offroading...

The discovery box is the same casing but it has a different gear ratio to the defender one, and I think some of them don't have the switch for the diff lock signal. If you read the reports some people love it as it makes the defender less noisy at motorway speeds, but some say this higher ratio makes defenders struggle to pull away at low speeds, many recomend to have a re map when you fit a discovery box.
Just bought one myself and re built it so I intend to give it a go when I can:

discovery td5 t box has no provision for the speedo drive, and swapping rear output housing isnt as simple as it looks it effects the diff preload

Didn't know that James, so mine must have come from a non TD5 doner. Is it possible to swap the internals into a defender case and re set the pre loads by shimming ?

Cheers guys not so straight forward as I hoped may just get a decent replacement and keep the box as a spare for the disco 2 that I have

you find an output housing that has the same depth or alter the shimming in front out put housing
