Hello everyone. Newbie to the forum and landrover ownership. Just bought myself my first land rover: 2.5 diesel discovery2 and loving it. Got a bit of a worry about the transfer box. I've accidentally tried shifting it from high to low range tonight while the auto was still in drive instead of neutral It made a crunching sound like you would get trying to shift a manual without the clutch down. Now when not under load or in neutral there's a resonating noise coming for under the car. I'm really hoping I haven't buggered anything serious and would appreciate some advise on what i may have damaged.

I'd feel guilty taking the murray mints

sounds like you broke something
id get it checked if i were you

it shouldnt have hurt it ,maybe blunted the dog teeth on selector a bit ,hi/low selector isnt synchro mesh
