Hi I'm looking for a transfer box for 1999 v8 discovery 2 . I've came across more td5 boxes than the v8 lt230 box. I've searched far and wide for an answer but have had many conflicting results some say yes others no .. My question is will an 1999 td5 transfer box fit straight into an 1999 v8 .... Ive came across boxes with diff lock and non diff lock can you point me in the right direction on this ... Many thanks for your time guys

Yes a TD5 box will fit right in.
Unless you have a difflock lever in your motor then it doesn't matter if the box has difflock or not.
Only difference with some V8 Tboxes is they have an oil temp sender in them, and NAS spec ones have the tbox interlock solenoid fitted. Neither of which you really need, temp sender could be useful if you tow a lot.

If you have an autobox in your car, that will have a bearing on the installation of a replacement transfer box equipped with centre difflock.
Difflock was included as std. on D2's between their inception and approx 2001. There is some doubt as to exactly when the difflock gubbins ceased to be included - it'll be linked to VIN numbers I assume.
