hi i have a defender 300tdi r380 lt230 t/box , in low range everything feels nice and firm no slack , but in high range it feels a bit of slack , certainly not as tight as in low . Is this normal or should i be looking for another transfer box . Cant see it been anything else .

is it full locking into high range,lever can be adjusted

hi its all working ok in that respect hi low etc , Its more the slack in the drive take up , there seems more in hi diff than low

Because there's a two to threefold change in ratio it will multiply the backlash you can feel by the same amount. It's a good reason to work through the entire drivetrain, deciding where to spend money on replacing bits.
