Hi,
just ordered a new gasket for my transfer box, the old one appears to be rubber and is split on the corners causing a leak.

The new feels a a gasket should. is the old one the incorrect gasket?

and does anyone have any tips for changing it over.

Thanks

I thought they were paper as std.
Quality gasket sealant (not cheap silicone) will work wonders, thinly smeared on the gasket.

that was my thought too, i have ordered some sealant also. should be here friday, so saturday will be the oil change day.

depends which gasket

I would still use the gasket with sealant applied
We use Loctite 5699 at work for sealing oil flanges/gaskets etc, good stuff, nearly 20 quid a tube though!
