Bhubesi Pride | TransAfrique 2011 - The charitable African rugby coaching expedition

Hello all,

I'm currently putting together an expedition, departing Cheltenham next January, driving to Cape Town over five months. The expedition is based on creating a rugby legacy along the way, whereby the team of six, traveling in two LR Defender 300 Tdi's, will stop at pre-arranged schools in ten African countries. Based on a more extensive project, the aim of the expedition is to:

- unite youngsters through the sport, focusing on health and social issues as part of the programme
- empower local teachers and coaching staff, creating a rugby legacy
- link up all African schools visited with a British school, focussing on longer term development and sustained school relationships

With rugby coaching and Land Rovers the focus, I am now seeking motivated, enthusiastic individuals with the relevant skills sets. The project is backed by the IRB, RFU and SARU and is in partnership with key charities touraid and United Through Sport. If you (or anyone you know) think that they have the right personality for this amazing opportunity, please do visit the website. The entire expedition, including this year's prep, will be filmed and is set to be broadcast on IRB's Total Rugby.

The project is featured in the May edition of LRM and you can learn more at Bhubesi Pride — TransAfrique 2011, follow on Twitter or become a fan of the Facebook page, to receive constant news feeds.

Look forward to your thoughts and suggestions of support.

All the best,

Richard
