Hi guy's

I have a small issue just presented itself in my FL1, the trailer warning light comes on when i turn the ignition on and start the engine.
when it does this i have no indicators and it flickers when i press the brake pedal but does not go out.
The only time it goes out and stays off is when i get the revs up (indicators start to work) and start driving down the road and then it remains off. i thought that maybe it was due to disconnecting the battery a few times causing it to be unhappy but i'm not so sure.

Any ideas out there

cheers

Neil

Ok so the trailer light comes on with the additional load of the extra lamp. As it is affected by brake lights I would suspect a wiring or earth fault in the rear lamp or lamps. It could also be the actual flasher relay which is plugged in on RHS or drivers fuse box. The latter is easier to change but unsure why brakes would affect that, it is an electronic unit so is possible. I would check brake and side lights work correctly and then swap the flasher for a known good one.

when i turn the ignition the trailer light comes on solid, when i press the brake pedal the trailer light flickers when i release the brake pedal its on solid again till i start up and rev the engine then it eventually goes out.
on a side note we've had the car for a year and 3/4 without any issues other than the obligatory lunching of the IRD thanks to the VCU (luckily we have a spare car with a good IRD) and this light issue has on just started to happen over the last few days/

I guess that’s the first place to start then.
is there a main plug you can just unplug to take it out of the equation?
I don’t know the setup for yours.

Hi J
i don't know if it can be unplugged as it was there when we got the car 18 or so months ago and it's only just started over the last few days, other than the usual VCU trashing the IRD Ring gear the car has been faultless, but i will have a look for a harness plug

To isolate the towbar electrics there is a multi connector behind the rhs boot side panel. You can find the correct one as one cable goes down through the floor to the tow bar !! Should be able to unplug to isolate but some people cut the loom and scotchlock or solder it all together.
