Hi

I have a problem with the Traction Control and the Hill Decent system on my Freelander 2.5V6 I think

The amber warning lights are on constantly for both the Traction Control and the Hill Decent on the instrument panel

The car drives fine although I don’t know if either system is working or not because I don’t use the vehicle off road and have yet to drive on snow or ice

The green Hill Decent light illuminates when you activate the Hill Decent with the switch on the lower centre console where the handbreak is

I think that the ABS, which incorporates the Hill Decent Control I think, may not be receiving a signal from a sensor somewhere or may think that the breaks have overheated, faulty sensor if there is one for detecting break temperature

Has anyone got any experience with this fault or faults and how was it fixed

Also

How can the Hill Decent Control know that the breaks are overheating if there is no sensor to detect the temperature of the break pads or the break disks

And

I have an amber warning light on for the engine emissions, this is fairly recent, which I think is to do with the engine being carbonised because it is never used on any long runs and so I will need to clear it out with tap water which I have done before as shown on the internet, tap water works fine

Has anyone else had this problem, carbonisation, and what did you do please

And finally

I had a very interesting problem with the battery going flat all the time and if anyone is interested
I will run you through what I found. You will never believe it
