hi there, I have just joined this forum and wish to share my experience with fitting a tracker and the responses from my insurance company
I have recently had a tracker fitted to one of my land rovers, the tracker is called Trackstar and is a category 6 Thatcham approved unit, professionally fitted and with a call out charge, totalling over £250.00. Then there is the monitoring subscription of £399 for three years (non transferable if I sell it) which works out at around £11.00 per month. So far so good.
My insurance company assured me that there would be big savings on my premium which would make fitting the tracker worthwhile, apparently this is not true, I am only saving around £3.00 to £4.00/ month on my premium which makes it a costly exercise especially when I take into account the purchase, fitting and monitoring costs of the unit.
I am now questioning whether it's worth fitting trackers to vehicles at all as it seems there is no financial benefit!
I'm interested to hear others views.
Harry.
