Hi all,

Should they move as much as this?? Hope the video links work. It's the first time I've tried it.

Thanks in advance, Mark

Show us a video of someone turning the steering wheel side to side while videoing the track rod ends and then we can tell you something.

Someone turning the steering wheel side to side while videoing the track rod ends... now that would be something to see :D

As for your links TrueStereo nothing wrong with the movement shown, its when they seize with age And they don't there's problems. Just clamp on some grips and try it for your self and if both ends have brand new ball joints you may even be able to turn the rod by hand.

Considering what it costs to change the drag link and track rod complete, I wouldn't think about joints on their own.

they are ball joints they should move as such, what they shouldnt have is any play ,which if you just hold the rod whilst someone rocks the steering wheel you will feel if there is or not

TREs should move as in videos. They can have a little up and down movement but no lateral play.

Thanks a lot for the replies. It was the chappie at the tracking place that pointed the movement out to me after he struggled to get it tracked properly. I'll check side to side play when I have a suitable helper.
