Stearing on my 2001 D2 is vague and wonders a little.. checking it there were 2 problems, UJ that tightens onto the splin shaft of the stearing box was loose, tightened this and all good there now and has fixed some of the issue, but there is one of the track rod ends N/S that is worn.. so i need to get a new one.. on fleebay there are loads of them.. but on Halfords site (was hoping to get one today) they are listed as front left and front right.. but no such difference on fleebay.. so are they the same or is one LH thread and one RH thread so I dont order wrong..

Ok it seems i'm a bit dim... of course the track rod ends would be LH & RH threads, but the main reason I'm Dim is its the Drag Link end that needs replacing.. anyway same question (risking further dimness) guessing this is RH both ends but just need confirmation.. the end that's gone is where it connects to the N/S axle not the steering box arm.

because the drag link needs to be adjustable like the track rod, it has lh and rh threads ,drag link ball joint is rh the other end at the drop arm has an lh thread
since ive just seen its a d2 its best to buy a complete drag link
 
Track rod end are normally "handed". This is so that the toe-in or out can be set by loosening the locknuts on both ends and turning the track rod itself.
However, things are never that easy on the Disco. The track rod has one ball joint fixed to one end of the rod, Pt No QFS000040 and the other end has a "standard" adjustable track rod end Pt No QFS000010.
If you search each part number on google you should easily see the difference.
The drag link is a similar arrangement of a joint on one end of a long tube and the adjustable ball joint end at the other. The Pt no for the drag link is QEK000020 and it uses the same ball joint end as the track rod, QFS000010

Perfect, I have now ordered the correct part using your part numbers... Love this forum
 
I just adjusted the Steering box adjuster by 1/4 turn as recommended and that has made a huge difference.. the play in the drag link is now hardly noticeable on the road.. when the new drag link end is fitted the steering will be like new.. :) already feels like a completely different landy..
