Just got myself a 1965 series 2a 88" 2.25l petrol. Assuming it was brand new, what would be the maximum legal towing weight limit for a braked trailer and what would be a maximum sensible weight to be towing around? I guess that after 42 years of tin worm it might be wise not to pull its original maximum load about?
I have a Massey Ferguson 35 tractor and plough weighing just under 2 tonne and a 12' Ifor Williams trailer- will my landy cope if it can set off without leaving its rear cross member behind?
Cheers all!

I think that is under the legal weight but not totaly sure. your 2a will pull it but i think that it will strugle over a distance.

cant remember the exact figure for a series 2, but think the disco is rated for 2700kgs.
think i read somewhere that the max mass for the disco is 4000kgs.
generally the recommended max towing weight for any vehicle should not exceed 80% of the vehicle kerb weight.

that should give you some figures to work on.
if your xmember is not perfect/buggered, then i wouldnt tow that lot on the open road.
