Having a senior moment
I am posting this here but maybe it should be elsewhere:

I need to get tow points attached to the front and rear of my shogun. I can get a towbar fitted to the rear, but I suspect that I am going to need something a little more manly on both the front and back. I would relly appreciate going to someone who knows what they are doing, even if I need to travel to get it done. If anyone has ideas or experience pls let me know.

Cheers

jate rings for the front (and possibly rear but there is a lot of contention about if jate rings are better than tow bars).Get em from craddocks/paddocks/anyone else doing forby spares fit em yourself, cheap as chips and quite easy to do.Thjat said Ive never been under a shogun, but have been under L200's think the chasiss is the same.Look for anywhere you can directly bolt the jate rings onto the chassis

Yeah... I'm confident when buying but make it a policy never to rely on my own diy handywork... the wife won't even put anything on those nice shelves I put up just cos she thinks the glue won't hold!

The problem with Jate rings is that the rear of a landy chassis was never designed to take the stresses involved in recovery. and so they are only 2mm thick, because The army uses the nato pintle to attach a cable or strop to The front chassis legs were strengthened and will take the strain. But jate rings should be forged not welded and especially never use the flat bar with a pin thru em type that some peeps sell.

Just took a look at Scorpon's site... some nice stuff would be nice to have a price list though.

They're only 10 minutes from where I work so I might just call in there tomorrow, have a little look around.

Think of a price and put a 0 on the end:D

When companies dont specify the prices, get ready for a shock!!

I went to Scorpion yesterday... to be honest they didn't have the necessary loop for the rear but I bought shackles at 2.50 apiece, rated to 12 tonne. Not a huge amount of money I thought? Perhaps they charge through the nose for bigger stuff.
