Hi all,

rebuilding my D90 on a new Marsland Chassis I thought it would be a straightforward swap for the Dixon Bate tow bar that came off the original chassis, how wrong I appear to be.

Is it safe to bolt the tow bar to the lower captive nuts in the rear crossmember and the angle below?

(You will have to check as my hi cap is diffident)

2 holes under crossmember take a piece of angle bolted to it other face has the drop plate bolted on to it.
Angle brackets back to chassis where the tubes are welded(grease well so they don’t seize)

Hi Phil, any idea of the bolt sizes?

I should have said, mine is a 200tdi but, the new chassis comes with the td5 crossmember as I understand.
I think there is a difference between tdi and Td5 tow bar fitting/mounting points.
Hopefully someone with a greater knowledge will give an answer.

The lower set of M16 bolts in the rear face of the crossmember are the same. The three M10 bolts that go vertically into the underside face are not, and you will need a new angle piece. I bought a Td5 fixed towbar angle piece (LR042765) and slightly realigned the holes that take the second set of M16 bolts from the slider, to make it work with the Dixon Bate design. The two arms back to the chassis should be the same as your old Tdi chassis.

Modification shown here, along with fitted towbar.
