after having a range rover p38 4.6 that had no probs with top speed now i have my 90 25 n/a doozel i can only get about 50-55 tops and up hill thats down to about 30 and have to use 3rd gear
so what have you got and whats the most you can get out of it?

200tdi wi 200k 70mph but i aint footed it yet but me beemer dun 125mph steady as **** with more to go but i run outta road

1974 2 1/4 petrol 88" 70 on the flat (eventually) 45 - 50 uphill. It'll happily drive all day at 45 and give me 20mpg. Me thinks you might have a problem.

300tdi auto with around 90k have done 80 and still going but didnt buy it to drive fast, usually bimble about at around 60-65 on the dual carriageways with enough to overtake if needed.

me classic was fine up to 90, then struggled on to just over the ton.Could feel the air just piling up on the front of the mota.-only on closed private roads with permission of course...

When mine had a n/a it would do 65/70 tops but I changed it with a 200tdi, will do 80 all day long. Ok, with i bit of noise................well ok a lot.

ha ha

90 200tdi 109kmiles

geard up a touch....90 or 95 dependant on spedo vary cos it was so loud me eyeballs were rattleing and the door tops bent open........:eek:

Knackered 19j 2.5td 110 CSW did 75, after a VERY long period of acceleration.

Nice 200 Tdi tweaked a bit in 110 CSW with big mud tyres, 90-95 though never checked it with a sat nav

Awesome 3.9 V8 LPG 110 CSW with extractor manifolds and big bore exhaust, 100 mph+ with a roof rack on. Absolute beast (see pic on profile) but juicy at 9mpg.

Fastest motor we ever had was my dad's old 1979 Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 V8 - thing would do 150mph before running out of gearing.

Hi

My series 3 diesel 109 1971 does about 45 on the flat, would do more I am sure, but that is fast enough for me. Obviously hills do slow it up a bit, but it will do simmilar speeds on hills too.

Normally I drive the modern about 50 55 60 something on those lines, then the other oldies range from 15mph upwards.

Cheers

Dave

15 mph upwards? What does that mean?

It means some of the oldies go aboput 15mph, anything upwards from that. 15mph is about the slowest vehicle I drive, or help to drive. hehe Then again 15mph is quite fast or feels fast!!

i have a 2.5 n/a diesel as well, can get 70 tops on the motorway but when i meet a hill it slows right down to about 40ish. Just remember they are not built for speed!!

Ah right, I thought you meant you drove your Range (Rover) at 15mph... I was gonna say, that's probably a bit too cautious!

What is it that tops out at 15mph then?

If we give the series (2.25 petrol 1963) enough of a long road, it will do just over 70. I think it might do a little more...but it doesn't feel right at that speed....it just feels wrong. And the speedo over 70 will stop working and you have to stop, reverse, then forward a few times before it will work again. Fastest we got on the last trip was 64MPH on the GPS, but the poor thing was not running right.

The other cars I have are more for speed!

mine hasnt got a speedo (dont think its neccasary in a trialer) but one of my mates has a 4.6 efi 90 and that will be flat out at 124:eek: and my god it was scary..on unbalenced simex's :eek:never again
