Hi all

Just replaced the head gaskets on my 1998 4.6 and I'm a little concerned that the top hose Is a little over pressurised.

The expansion tank was receiving air from the bottom hose, but this appears to have stopped so hoping it has just been air locked. The temp gauge has never risen above half way.

Just wandering on how hard is hard really??? I know this is one of them questions as hard to one person is not hard to another.

If there is anyone in south Birmingham that wouldn't mind me squeezing their top hose that would be great!! :D

Wanted to avoid using any sentence using the words * stiff * hard * feel and hose in case you got the wrong idea!!!!

Just drove the car for approximately 2hrs round town and up and down the lanes and the temp gauge has stopped perfectly in the middle. Nothings exploded, all pipes etc. are still in place and waters still in the system.

The expansion tank cap sounds like its releasing a small amount of pressure after a run as its producing a small hiss when the engines stopped, I'm hoping this is just normal.

I think I was just being a bit paranoid with the top pipe pressure as i'm sure a hgf would have shown itself after such a long run. The pipe is going to be firm as I've read the systems pressurised to 15psi. Fingers crossed anyway!

cap must seal or it will boil like a kettle with the lid left open & carry on boiling, they all should pressurise it lowers boiling point
