Having just had to buy a sprocket retaining tool for a TD4 was thinking will probably never need to use it again. How many of us out there have done the same and they are now gathering dust in the garage.
How about starting a list of us that would be happy to loan out the tools to others to save on the repair costs. There could be a section where people could post what need and see how it goes.
Whilst there could be a few problems in general I think it could turn into a useful tool.
What are your thoughts.

i think with the right organising, it could be a good idea. it needs someone to look after it really though. Almost a single post that get edited with a tool list and who owns it, then people can PM the owner if they want to borrow it.

It happens anyway. I've posted a couple of tools out to people and got 'em back a few weeks later. I've also used tools and 'parts' when laning to fix others vehicles and got 'em back in the post when they're back home and fixed properly!

Maybe worth having a specific thread for it thobut ..

Yep, i suggested this a year or two ago as i needed a specific tool, someone provided said tool, job done.

Just post up in General Landy Chat what you need and i'm sure someone will oblige.

+1...a slide hammer for injectors turns 2 hours into 2 mins....50 quid deposit surely would cover most ?

Yes true I suppose with the ease of PayPal nowadays a willing genuine Borrower could stump upbthe cash as long as the lender is Genuine too ....

As a 15/16 year old I can remember the words of my apprentice manager at HM Dockyard Portsmouth - "Lad" he said "As you get older, you'll learn not to lend your tools nor your WIFE out"..........."Why"? I asked innocently. "Coz they will come back f**cked"! Something that I hold dear to this day and I'm 65 now:rolleyes:
