ok....

forget that the engine is a quad cam 4l v8 supercharged, and not a crapy ex buick lump please:D..its in an rrc

on gas everything is fine,on petrol once at working temp there is a large drop in power on initial acceleration,A/R droping to 17:1!!! eckk..rather than droping to 13 etc from 14.7:1
so lack of fuel ..thing is everthing is fine on cold start up (open loop)..but why??
it was fine, something is a miss, i expect prehaps the aftermarket fuel pressure regulator is playing up,or intank fuel pump .BUT the fact its fine when cold kind of desputes this..the fact that when on gas its fine,(and the gas ecu follows the petrol injection pulses) makes me think the main ecu is pulsing the petrol injectors correctly...

wot you recon..abit stuffed at the moment and i dont want to just swap things out,not at toyota prices..

i have thought of ecu temp sensor playinng up?but that should not drop the fueling..(retard timing yes)
fpr ****in up.
intank fuel pump just not up to it?
afm playing up?
injectors need cleaning????
tps ****ed??

so to recap, fine on cold, once hot large power loss, fuel mixture too weak on acceleration, this can be from standstill or from crusing..everthing a1 on gas..NO FAULT codes from ecu..

tthanks

You might aswell start with temp related things, temp sensors etc

Have you tried running with various things unplugged?

Unplug ECU temp sensor for instance, ECU will run on safety settings, if you still have similar problem it is not that part at fault.

Could work?

Cheers

prehaps, but would it not just run on open loop map anyway, where the fault isn't occuring?

re temp sensor..i am assuming thats ok as it switches from open loop to closed ..once in closed it shows the fault..and besides its fine on gas..as the gas ecu relys on the main ecu for its base setup one assumes its following a correct main ecu injection map..ie if main ecu was under firing the petrol injectors then the gas ecu would follow..(which it is not...)

confused..i am..maybe injectors are sticking closed?or just one maybe??hense after a second or so it unsticks and all is ok???it runs on gas 99% of time....

i am really suspious of the fpr though as was a ebay item..but if that i would expect same faults on cold start..

confused..

yep it does..not lambs ..it should not be using them on acceleration.

been reading up on toyota web sites...

i leaning (excuse the pun) towards faulty tps.(though fault codes should detect this)
sticky/restricted injector(s)
faulty fpr or pump..(doughtful)
faulty afm..
prehaps faulty water or air temp sensors...

should keep me busy...

changed the tank long since then...

me going for faulty fpr..(or read crap one)
