Hi everyone

I'm new to the landyzone as I am about to buy my very first landrover. Currently lookingat a 2006 TD4 (ex landrover demo) diesel/manual with 130000 miles on the clock. I have test driven it and have to say I'm fairly impressed. They are asking for £4500 (and yes I will haggle) as its a private sale. It had its injectors replaced at 120000 and seems all ok.

So, my questions are...are they any good? and what should i be looking out for faults wise?

Jo :)

My early impressions of the freelander and it's faults are mainly the drive train. Ird, vcu, and the rear diff as if these go wrong u can get big bills coming ur way. Other things are like most cars, electrical knocking noises from suspension and driveshafts. Where r u in the world. I'd always reccomend taking/paying someone who knows about the car to come along with u to check known areas of weakness.
£4500 with 130,000 miles? Seems a bit steep to me.

Questions to ask are.
Has it had a new VCU and clutch?
Look at the tyres. Are they all the same make, model and size? Are the least worn on the rear?
If the answer to the questions on the VCU/Clutch is no, then budget for both.
If the tyres are all odd makes with the largest on the front then you can expect to spend money on the drive train in the near future.

Check everything works to. Windows, tail gait, door locks all fail. Look in the boot under floor storage locker for water.

All this and I normally have a good look through the service schedule to see where and when it's been serviced and what it had put on It. What repairs already done and see if it's needed a fuel pump yet especially as it's already had injectors

Thanks everyone...got a 2nd viewing/drive on Friday. In answer to your question I live in Dorset but near Somerset boarder, and everything is more expensive down here.

Written all your advice down and will take with me. Fingers crossed.
