I'm currently running a Mallory Dual Points dizzy in my 3.5 with a power amplifier. Until the vacuum advance went out, all seemed to be performing just fine. A new vacuum advance will set me back £60-65. I can pick up an electronic dizzy for not much more. The question I am pondering is whether or not I should.

Interested to hear your thoughts...

Got all the parts today and commenced the conversion to Pertronix Electronic Ignition but ran into a snag that I need some help with.

With the Flame Thrower coil that I got to accompany my electronic ignition, I no longer need the ballast resistor so I disconnected it and now that I am reconnecting, I have an extra wire that I don't know what to do with.

On one side of the ballast resistor, there is a white wire which from the wiring diagram is coming from the ignition switch. That's pretty apparent where it needs to go.

On the other side, there are two white with purple stripe wires. One looks like it goes to the starter solenoid and the other goes to the coil.

In the instructions for the electronic ignition, I need to have the white wire from the ignition switch and the red wire from the pertronix go to the positive side of the coil and the black wire from the pertronix go to the negative side of the coil. What do I do with the white with purple stripe wire that goes to the starter solenoid? I think this wire is no longer needed and can be capped off. I believe the purpose of this wire was to bypass the ballast resistor to provide the coil with the full 12volts, but this isn't needed since the coil is a 12volt coil. Can anyone confirm this?

There is also an amplifier wired into the ignition system that I will need to sort out, but that is for a later time. The previous owner fiddled with that so much that there are 4 different colors of wire connected together to form one wire. The brown wire that comes from the amplifier I believe should go to the negative side of the coil. The red wire that use to go to the condenser I have no idea what I am supposed to do with now or even if the amplifier is of use now that I have ditched the dual points.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
